Metrics

Sluice serves Prometheus metrics at GET /metrics on the admin API.

Metric Type Labels Meaning
sluice_approval_decisions_total counter outcome Approval decisions by outcome.
sluice_approval_pending gauge Approval requests currently awaiting a decision.
sluice_approval_wait_seconds histogram Time a request waited before being decided or timing out.
sluice_approval_webhook_deliveries_total counter status Approval webhook delivery attempts by status.
sluice_audit_auth_events_dropped_total counter origin Failed logins without an audit record: over the rate limit of these records, or the queue was full.
sluice_audit_dropped_total counter sink, reason Audit records dropped before reaching a sink.
sluice_audit_enqueued_total counter event_type Audit records accepted into the dispatcher queue.
sluice_audit_queue_depth gauge sink Current audit dispatcher queue depth.
sluice_audit_rotate_duration_seconds histogram sink Wall-clock time spent rotating an audit file.
sluice_audit_write_errors_total counter sink Audit sink write errors.
sluice_build_info gauge version, commit, go, platform, parser Build identity of the running sluice binary. Value is always 1.
sluice_mcp_rate_limited_total counter scope MCP requests over HTTP refused by the transport-level rate limiter, before identity resolution.
sluice_policy_denials_total counter policy Policy engine denials by policy name.
sluice_policy_eval_duration_seconds histogram Policy engine evaluation duration.
sluice_policy_evaluations_total counter outcome Policy engine evaluations by outcome.
sluice_policy_rejections_total counter policy, rule Policy engine rejections by policy + rule.
sluice_rest_rate_limited_total counter scope REST requests refused by limits.globalRps or limits.perIpRps.
sluice_sample_requests_total counter method Sample requests that passed validation, by method.
sluice_schema_cache_hits_total counter catalog Schema cache hits.
sluice_schema_cache_misses_total counter catalog Schema cache misses that triggered an introspection.
sluice_schema_refresh_duration_seconds histogram Duration of one read of the tables of a catalog.
sluice_schema_stale_entries_total counter catalog Number of times a cached entry became stale after a refresh failure.
sluice_synthetic_build_duration_seconds histogram Duration of synthetic builds in the server.
sluice_synthetic_builds_total counter result Finished synthetic builds in the server.
sluice_synthetic_spikes gauge name Spikes in the report of the current snapshot.
sluice_synthetic_stale gauge name 1 when the current snapshot was built from another spec.
  • Sluice also exports the Go runtime metrics (go_*) and the process metrics (process_*).
  • The sluice_approval_* metrics exist only when approval.publicBaseUrl is set.
  • A counter with labels appears after its first event.
  • The sluice_policy_* metrics count the YAML engine only, also as a member of composite.
  • The sluice_synthetic_* metrics exist only when a synthetic data source is loaded. They count only builds in the server, not sluice synth build.
